On-the-Job Training

On-the-job training provides an alternative to group-based training. Group-based training requires learners to leave their jobs and attend in-service training at a central site, which may provide ideal classroom and clinical experiences that are not consistent with the learners’ actual working environment, and that may not be easily applied when learners return to their work sites. On-the-job training takes place at the work site and may be used to strengthen the link between training and job performance.
