Because over 88% of cervical cancer occurs in low and middle income countries, in 2009, WHO established an expert panel to review use of early lesion cryotherapy. Programme literature was reviewed and 14 recommendations made, with decision tables. The present document summarizes the new evidence-based WHO recommendations about the use of cryotherapy in women with histologically confirmed CIN for LMICs and high-income countries.
